let's talk about life and life goals tonight.
from my personal point of view, life as a whole may be segregated into three major aspects: relationships, career and personal.
throughout the different stages of one's life, the ranking of the three elements changes from time to time.
when i was younger, family and friends could mean the world to me; as i grew older, it suddenly came to my attention that personal development would be of utmost importance as well.
a year ago when i first graduated from university, career became the top priority in my life. my career goal, as illustrated in my career objective, is to establish a challenging and rewarding career with a prestigious and dynamic market leader in any capacity where my abilities would put to to the best use and i as an individual would be best groomed. being my own boss has never been a dream of mine, unlike many other singaporeans who strongly believe that an employee will never taste REAL success. however, i would very much expect myself to rise to a senior management level 20 years down the road. in terms of monetary rewards, i would expect myself to earn a monthly income of at least SGD5000 five years down the road at the age of 30.
having lost a precious sister four years ago, i am clearly aware of the importance of kinship. providing a comfortable life for my elder parents and maintaining a very harmonious relationship and close lifelong bond with my only brother is thus an important goal in this aspect. besides my family, there are three other significant figures in my life - two close friends who have been through the last decade and welcomed the
millennium together with me and my life partner. life would not be the same without their presence, this i know. therefore, another relationship-oriented goal of mine is to be able to continuously provide support of any kind for these significant people who mean the most to me.
being someone who believes in personal development and have learned the importance of personal space through failed relationships, i would grant the personal aspect high importance as well. in terms of personal development, my next immediate goal is to obtain a Master's degree by the time i turn 30. ideally, i would obtain and rely on company sponsorship to do a full time 1-2 years course locally with
NTU, after which i would be well prepared to assume a management role in the sponsoring company.
